Hey Brian,
Just got my weekly digest of the millet site and saw the addition of the thresher physics visualization slide. I gotta say I love it! Gives a great classical view of what we think is happening. Great to see your still working on it.

The idea of wrapping wires around the wheel looks promising in terms of increases the surface area of what's hitting the stalks. You could do a comparison pretty easily - this seems pretty important. We made another "thresher" quickly by turning a junk bike upside down. It supported itself. We took off the wheel (steel rim), and bent it out in our vise, and placed it back on the bike.

Hey everyone.
I think if we keep a "current status" section we'll be more organized and Donna will have an easier time figuring out what we're up to. I've added one for the fan, but I don't want to post anything incorrect with regards to the basket, so I've left that part blank.

Hey guys - I did a sketch of how I envision our design right now. I left out the barrel because I still don't see exactly how we're planning on implementing it. Let me know what you think.

A search in wikipedia on winnowing revealed that ancient chinese used the fans for winnowing. In my mind using a fan would a good idea and instead of hand power fan we can have pedal power fan.

hey, I have some concept with the fan design, We could use the type of fans used in cars in radiators. That would work I guess.

i am r.mathiyazhagan doing M.E(MECHATRONICS) in MADRAS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY(ANNA UNIVERSITY),CHENNAI,TAMIL NADU,INDIA.now i am in third semester of my course.i have already selected my project title as millet drying and threshing machine.luckly i have visited this site.this contain information which is very useful to my project.i expect some help from this team throughout my project.thank you. i will mail you members later.
